First Impressions: Pop Music at the Turn of the 16th Century

Drawing from the “hit parade” of tunes popular in the early days of Petrucci’s printing press in Venice, Ensemble Gentil Galant performs Franco-Flemish polyphony by Josquin des Prez, Heinrich Isaac, Jacob Obrecht, Alexander Agricola, Johannes Ockeghem, and their contemporaries. With virtuoso performers Debra Nagy, winds & voice; Mark Rimple, lute, gittern, viol, & voice; and Sarah Cunningham, viol & voice.
