Choral Evensong & Pancake Supper

  • 915 North Oakland Street Arlington, VA 22203 (map)

March 2, 4 pm, Choral Evensong and Pancake Supper. Our monthly Evensong features jazz-inspired music followed by our annual Parish Pancake Supper. We welcome guest saxophonist John Kocur, Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at George Mason University. Music includes Michael Hassell’s “Jesus Love Me.” The prelude begins at 3:45 pm and features music for saxophone and organ Dennis Bedard. Following Evensong, join us in the Parish Hall for a delicious meal of pancakes, egg & cheese casserole, sausages, bacon, and fruit salad. It’s a bargain at $8/adult, $5/child ages 3-12 (2 and under free), $20/family. Gluten-free pancakes will be available.

Would you like to help with the Pancake Supper? Pulling this event off takes a little bit of work from a lot of people. We need volunteers to give just one hour on Saturday afternoon doing prep work, or on Sunday afternoon, cooking, restocking, setting up, and cleaning up.

To volunteer signup at www.saintgeorgeschurch.org/pancakesupper For any dietary needs or questions please contact Joan Pepin(joanpepin@gmail.com,(703)533-9417).

Choral Evensong in this church is a tiny fragment of something else: it is part of the worship which is offered to God by Christian people every hour of the day and night, in every part of the world. When you come to Evensong here, it is as if you were dropping in on a conversation already in progress – a conversation between God and God’s people which began long before you were born and which will continue long after your death. So, do not be surprised or disturbed if there are some things which you do not understand straight away. For a brief moment, you step into the continual stream of worship which is being offered today and which will be offered to the end of time. You are one with those who worship here on earth and in heaven.
